Young Democrats declare for statewide elections in 2014
On top of State Senator Jason Carter’s announcement he’s running for Governor in 2014, State Representative Alisha Thomas Morgan, whom Georgia Stonewall has endorsed in previous elections, announced she will be running for State School Superintendent in 2014.
From Senator Jason Carter:
“We can’t wait as a state,” said Jason Carter, who formally announced his candidacy Thursday. “The bottom line is we can’t afford four more years of an economy that’s not working for the middle class and an education system that’s underfunded. It’s not about politics. It’s about making sure we can get the state that we need.” Full story here…

Former state Sen. Connie Stokes, the first Democrat to announce against Deal, said Thursday she would instead challenge Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle
“I have dedicated my life to serving youth and to seeing that every child has an opportunity to succeed. As a mom of a first grader, this is personal,” she said via email Tuesday following the announcement of her candidacy. “I only get one shot to get it right for my daughter Lailah. I don’t have 10 or 20 years to do so, just one. I’m going to bring the kind of leadership to the Department of Education that puts students first and brings adults together from all communities including education, civic, faith and business. I’m going to unite Georgians who share the sense of urgency to get it right for my daughter and every child in our state.” Full Story here…
