2021 Municipal Election November 2nd Endorsements
Georgia Stonewall Democrats is pleased to see the ongoing commitment to LGBTQ equality exhibited by so many candidates for local office this cycle.
These endorsements reflect credible candidates with long histories of leadership, elected or within their communities. In many cases these are people we’ve interacted with for many years, in many different environments, in both difficult and joyous circumstances.
Given the wide depth and abundance of candidates in multiple races, this cycle is proving how fond we are of new faces stepping forward to offer themselves for service. We will be looking at several races again to see who transcends beyond their on-paper qualifications and how they show leadership in their districts.
In many of the races we like more than one candidate. We will revisit after the initial election and specifically look at those who emerge from the pack and show the most connection and support from their district neighborhoods.
We appreciate all the candidates who have reached out and completed our survey. We also recognize that not all candidates running for nonpartisan office would be comfortable with our partisan label. Any exclusion of a particular candidate or municipal race should not be construed as a non-endorsement or slight to any candidate.
Atlanta Mayor & Atlanta City Council President:
Much like last cycle, our consideration of the crowded field of people we’ve previously endorsed, worked with, or observed in community, but not had the opportunity to engage with, due to the many restrictions with to the ongoing pandemic and its variants. We have decided to continue to monitor the campaigns and messaging. After the November 2nd election we will consider an endorsement process in the likely run off.
